Before I began writing, I always enjoyed reading. “Read what you like to write.” That’s one of the mantras that got drilled into my head early in my writing career. When I arrived at my writers conference last year, I found a kindred spirit in Rich Bullock. We were in the same critique group, and discovered that as suspense writers, we both have a very similar style. He writes “perilous fiction,” and I write “on-the-edge suspense.” Since then, Rich has become both a friend and mentor.
I also had the privilege of reviewing one of his books that was just released called Shattered Glass. Below is my review that I placed on Amazon, but if I had three words to describe this book, they would be “Most extremely suspenseful read.” (Okay, that was four words, but hey, sometimes three words just aren’t enough.) If you enjoy reading suspense, this is a book for you.
How do you get your life back when everyone wants you dead for reasons beyond your control? Lilly Hawthorne, the lead character in Shattered Glass, faces this question when, as an innocent bystander, she nearly dies in a shootout. As she struggles to recover from her injuries, she comes into the crosshairs of another, more sadistic killer. Rich Bullock weaves a novel that is hard to put down. I certainly couldn't, and I found myself totally wrapped into Lilly's character. It's definitely a must-read for anyone who likes suspense.
